I was at DRB-Hicom Autofest, SPICE (previously known as PISA) Penang last weekend to check specifically the long awaited by Suzuki 4x4 fans, the Suzuki Jimny new JB43 model. The Suzuki Jimny is already a well known amongst the 4x4 enthusiasts. It's a good news for Suzuki 4x4 fans for the dream come true when finally Suzuki Malaysia decided to bring in the little mini 4x4 SUV which go anywhere despite the compactness of the car. It was already proven by the previous models such as SJ410 and SJ413, where the follower of this model is quite huge in Malaysia.  

There is not much to look for for this car other than for "viewing only". I have seen and get to hold the steering of the similar model while in Brunei. Here is my entry about my experience. I am not really sure about the specification of the new Jimny Malaysia 2013, however looking from the exterior, the following specification may the nearest possible match. It's based on the similar model Jimny Sierra 1.3L. Note that, there are two variations of Jimny in Japan which called as Jimny and Jimny Sierra with 660cc Turbo (K6A) and 1300cc (M13A) liquid cooled engine respectively.

The only negative force  (at least for me) is the unconfirmed price around RM90k would be the setback for this 3-door mini 4x4 car to justify the monthly repayment. Nevertheless, the joy of looking at the car and possibly soon to be on the road is great. Anyway, here are some photos of the Suzuki Jimny Malaysia 2013.

Dijangka masuk pasaran Jun nanti

Suzuki Jimny, yang menjadi antara model paling popular keluaran jenama Jepun itu akan diberikan penawaran terbarunya untuk pasaran Malaysia tidak lama lagi. Versi terbaru SUV kecil yang mempunyai ramai peminat termasuk di Malaysia itu akan diimport terus dari Jepun.

Menurut sumber, dengan harga dijangka berada sekitar RM90,000, Jimny terbaru itu nanti turut dijangka akan menerima sambutan hangat. BH Auto juga dimaklumkan bahawa 2 buah unit model terbabit sudah dihantar ke agensi berkaitan bagi proses ‘Vehicle Type Approval’. Kenderaan yang boleh didapati dalam transmisi manual atau automatik dipasang coil springs dan disuntik kuasa enjin  petrol 1.3 liter.

Bagi transmisi automatik, ia dijangka akan menggunakan sistem CVT (continuously variable transmission) yang dapat menjimatkan bahan api dan menjadikan pemanduan lebih lancar berbanding sistem automatik tradisional.

Penggunaan CVT berkenaan sudah diuji selayaknya untuk tidak akan mengganggu prestasi pemanduan off-road kerana ia membantu memberikan perjalanan yang lebih baik dan keselesaan terutama aspek pengendalian kereta ini.

Dalam masa yang sama, varian tertinggi bagi model Swift 1.4L sedia ada, Swift Sport juga kemungkinan akan diperkenalkan sekali untuk pasaran Malaysia. Nantikan perkembangan lanjut berkaitan perkara ini dilaman ini.– Firdaus A. Yasin

We are Suzuki Jimny SJ Family

In my family, we have three Suzuki 4x4. My father's Suzuki SJ410 is mainly for daily use to the farm, my brother's SJ413 also for his daily use and mine is for use in the farm and light off-road purpose. All bought second hand. Why we use Suzuki 4x4? Definitely for its reliability, cheap and simple which serve our different purposes.

Suzuki Jimny Malaysia: A Reality?

This 4x4 small compact car does not need much introduction, but a legend and is mostly used by most 4x4 enthusiasts whether urban or rural areas as well as one of the options to modify the vehicle for 4x4 challenge, particularly in Sabah, Malaysia. News relevant to the new model Suzuki Jimny will be launched in Malaysia in fact has existed in the internet news over the past month. Readers can refer to Paul Tan, CBT and Keretamoto.  I'm a bit late to write a blog about this car.

I have a rather large gallery of pictures of similar kind vehicle with the previous version SJ410 and SJ413 here.  Interestingly, I have seen this car on display during the 4x4 challenge in Brunei in 2012. I have written my experience here in the hope that Suzuki JIMNY Malaysian version will be realized. However, after reading from the source mentioned above, the new Suzuki JIMNY is priced around RM90,000 for imported CBU from Japan. With this price, I do not expect that it will be sold on a large scale in Malaysia. I hope the actual price is not as described because the price offered in Brunei is around SGD25,000. If not, it would probably be like what had happened with the Perodua Nautica, although they have the target customers of Kembara owners and other 4x4 Kaki. Otherwise let those with lots of spare money to buy first then wait for several years until they decided to sell the 2nd-hand Jimny. Suzuki 4x4 fans may likely to buy Suzuki JIMNY locally or CKD models which the price offered is more affordable.

I was informed that the new Suzuki Jimny will be displayed on the DRB-HICOM Autofest in PISA (now SPICE) on 28-30 June 2013. I would definitely go there to find out whether the Suzuki Jimny is there.

Kebanyakan daripada kita menyebut nama model 4×4 kompak Suzuki Jimny dengan perkataan Jimmy, mungkin kerana ramai yang tidak menyangka perkataan yang betul adalah Jimny kerana sebutannya yang agak kekok berbanding perkataan Jimmy.

Di pasaran UK, Suzuki telah mengumumkan naik taraf terbaru (facelift model) untuk Suzuki Jimny bagi model tahun 2013, antaranya melibatkan rekaan baru bampar dan jeriji depan, bentuk baru bonet yang menggabungkan ‘intake’ udara tengah serta susunan semula lampu kabus depan. 

Bagi menggerakkannya, Suzuki Jimny dijana enjin petrol bersesaran 1.3 liter 16 valve binaan aloi sepenuhnya yang mendapat manfaat daripada sistem pemasaan injap berbilang, memastikan prestasi kuasanya sentiasa hidup, kuat dan ekonomi.

Dua transmisi tersedia sama ada manual lima kelajuan atau automatik empat kelajuan untuk enjin berkenaan yang menghasilkan kuasa setinggi 85ps dan 110Nm tork maksimum. Setakat ini kira-kira 20,000 orang rakyat UK telah memiliki Jimny.
